SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is is intended to confirm whether an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will stop the counterfeiting of emails made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this attribute for a domain generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever some e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through checks if it originates from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, however when it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address and make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a shared website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option will provide you with the highest degree of protection, but it is not applicable when only your site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are handled somewhere else. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting service, offers you an exceptionally intuitive interface to enable the SPF security service for any domain that you host inside your new account. In case the email messages are managed on our end and not by another provider, you can raise the security level even further and benefit from an option for all the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option will give you more control and it will eliminate any chance of anybody counterfeiting your emails with the intention of spamming and scamming people. It's not applicable in case just your website is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud web hosting platform, while your emails are managed by another service provider. If you aren't sure what features to select, our technical support staff will assist you 24/7.
